CNWE Toronto holds its first activity of the 2010/2011 year

AS WE CARRY ON… 30 YEARS OF CNWE
WOMEN WITH A PAST… SHAPING A FUTURE!

Led by Rita, Mary & Denise,CNWE Toronto gathered together to launch a new year, leading up to CNWE’s 30’th anniversary in July 2011,with prayer, reflection and sharing.

The wells of living water from which we drew included most especially, ourselves, and also, the music of Carolyn McDade, and the words of Simon Tugwell OP:

The purpose of returning to the past is that we should rediscover ways of
drawing close to the source of living waters, so that our instinct may be
sharpened to recognize in that bewildering world around us the presence and
activity of the life-giving Spirit, so that, rooted in a generous shared
past, we can find new ways of being and living and working together, and new
patterns of significance in the jumble of our own experience.

Join us and participate in breaking the silence on women’s ordination!

Fr. Roy Bourgeois, Maryknoll priest and School of the Americas Watch Founder and Marie Bouclin, Canadian Roman Catholic Womenpriest will speak about their experiences in ?shattering the stained glass ceiling? in the Roman Catholic church regarding the ordination of women.

The event will also host the Toronto premiere of the film, Pink Smoke Over The Vatican by Jules Hart. This film is an award winning documentary film about a group of impassioned women who have stepped forward, with the support of their communities, to challenge the Vatican. This unique group of religious women have chosen at great personal risk to live out their spiritual calling through the forbidden path of ordination. The film follows candidates for priesthood as they confront their inner doubts and anxieties while at the same time challenging the centuries-old established order of one of the most powerful institutions in history.
